Malcolm Arnold Academy is a secondary and sixth form academy based in Northampton town centre, with a student body of over 1000 students.

“At Malcolm Arnold we believe that sporting excellence is not an add-on, but an integral part of school life. Our fantastic facilities and coaching staff ensure that MAA students have access to a range of sporting opportunities and are able to participate and or compete to a high level. We know that sports and enrichment opportunities develop the whole child, and are the key to achieving our mission of offering a world of possibility to all our students.”
Megan Morris, Principal

We bring a world of possibility to our students through an extensive Music, Sport and Enrichment program that is for every child, not just a privileged few.

Our students have the broad horizons and happy confidence that comes from a rich, well-rounded education.

We pride ourselves on offering sporting opportunities for all our pupils, from participation through to performance. As an Academy we offer all our students to opportunity to engage in sport and physical activity, not only in PE lessons, but by taking part in over 15 annual house competitions, attending lunch time and after school clubs or representing the Academy in one of the 200+ fixtures we deliver each academic year. On top of this we support the students and teams who wish to take their talent further by competing in National Cups and English Schools Championships and encouraging pupils to join a club outside of school.

As part of the David Ross Education Trust we also access some once in a lifetime opportunities. Our students have been coached by Olympic Champions, been part of master classes with Cricket legends Shane Warne and Alastair Cook, attended the Commonwealth Games, been part of Team GB and performed in front of Lord Coe, Colin Jackson and Lawrence Dallaglio, to name a few opportunities. On top of this we compete at our Trust wide events including the Winter, Summer and Spring Cups each year, have students selected for the Trust All Star teams and run a sports leadership programme.

We've announced new partnerships with Northampton Saints Rugby and Hockey Clubs to help drive our Rugby and Hockey performance programmes. These give our students in all years the opportunity to be coached by expert coaches from each organisation, compete at a higher level and develop their skills. We compete in the ESFA National Cups each year, National Indoor Rowing Championships, ESAA Cross Country and Athletics and have a number of students on the Saints DPP pathway.

All this is part of life in TeamMAA and we're proud of the amazing life changing and world class opportunities we provide.

“At Malcolm Arnold we are incredibly proud of our extensive PE curriculum, which covers a wide range of sports, from football, to netball, to rowing, hockey and table tennis. This enables our students to get a taste of a wide range of activities and find the one that is right for them, making sports enjoyable and sustainable for all. We are privileged to have many high-performing athletes at MAA, including national champions in rowing and athletics. Our sporting programme, alongside our connections with external sporting teams including Northampton Saints, ensures that MAA student-athletes have the best possible support to achieve their sporting goals.”
