Professor Dylan Morrissey joins Podium Analytics as Director of Research

  • 26 November 2025 – Podium Analytics is delighted to welcome the highly respected Sports and Exercise Medicine clinician and academic, Professor Dylan Morrissey, to the team at the end of the year.

Specialising in musculoskeletal conditions, Dylan is currently the Academic Lead for Sports and Exercise Medicine at Queen Mary University of London (QMUL). He brings with him an extensive background working at the intersection of education, research and clinical practice.

At Podium, Dylan will draw upon his rich research expertise in intervention development and evidence translation to realise Podium Analytics’ sports injury prevention goals. His work on tendinopathy, movement, knowledge translation, AI and digital solutions to improve outcomes will enhance Podium’s research initiatives and help to further develop and implement effective interventions to prevent and manage sports injury.

"The appointment of Professor Dylan Morrissey to the Podium Analytics Team constitutes a further substantial step in the creation of a world-leading body in sports medicine and safety,” said Peter Hamlyn, Medical Director and Trustee of Podium Analytics. “As leader of our research efforts at Podium – together with The Podium Institute at the University of Oxford and our Academic and Sports Governing Body partners – Dylan brings exceptional clinical and educational expertise. His highly collaborative approach, unparalleled international network and extensive musculoskeletal knowledge will enable us to take an even bigger step forward in our ambition to create a safer world of sport. There could be no firmer statement of our intent than we see here."

Commenting on his appointment, Professor Morrissey said:

"I am delighted to be joining the superb core and extended team at Podium Analytics. Almost every one of the injured people I have treated told a story that could have turned out differently, and we know the only guaranteed cure is prevention. This is most poignantly apparent when treating up-and-coming, talented young sports people with serious injury. Podium’s excellence and focus on grassroots and youth sport meant I had to join. There is much to discover, a wealth of existing evidence to implement, and so much injury to prevent."

Alongside his work at Podium, Dylan will retain his ongoing work as Professor of Sports and Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy, as well as his Consultant Physiotherapy role at Barts Health NHS Trust.

Podium Analytics is committed to reducing the incidence and impact of sports injury with a key focus on youth and grassroots sport. Professor Morrissey’s addition to the team is an exciting step forward as we work to create a world with more sport and less injury.
