  • England Hockey is the national governing body for the sport in England, responsible for the management and development of hockey from grassroots to elite activities.

England Hockey has a membership comprising over 800 clubs, 45 counties and 8 areas (including the Combined Services) which affiliate to it. Around 155,000 individuals play regularly in the club system with an estimated 15,000 playing at university/college. 800,000 children are playing the sport across 10,000 schools.

Over 15,000 coaches, umpires and officials are supported and developed by England Hockey.

  • ““Making our sport as safe as possible is absolutely paramount to everyone at England Hockey. Partnering with Podium is an important step on two fronts – first of all in collating the best possible data and then secondly in analysing and understanding its significance. These two factors combined enable us to act accordingly for the good of the sport and its participants, giving them the best possible hockey experience in the safest environment.””
    NICK PINK, CHIEF EXECUTIVE
  • Hockey is a sport for, and enjoyed by, everyone. It's completely gender balanced and played by 4 to over 80-year-olds.

We want to ensure the safety and enjoyment of all those who play hockey, so partnering with Podium provides a great new advance in monitoring and recording injuries

The initial focus on 11-18s, lets us cover junior hockey in clubs and schools, which are two of our largest participant groups. It will be a valuable way to measure the ongoing progress of our work in this area, through our Planning Safe Hockey guidance.

  • ““When partnering with Podium, it was hugely important to us that we shared the system not only with clubs, but also with schools and universities. In doing so, we are reaching all aspects of the game and all ages of participants, which is an essential step to best understanding injuries and protecting our players.””
