Dr Catherine Wheatley is a chartered health psychologist who specialises in sport, physical activity and mental health.
Catherine joined Podium from the Department of Clinical Neurosciences at the University of Oxford where her research investigated relationships between physical activity, learning and thinking skills, mental wellbeing and brain health using qualitative and quantitative methods. Her PhD explored the application of exercise behaviour change models in secondary schools.
Before studying for her doctorate, Catherine had a successful career as a national newspaper journalist, writing for the Sunday Times, the Independent and the Sunday Express, among others, about entrepreneurship and fast-growing businesses. She was the New York correspondent for Sunday Business and reported on Silicon Valley start-ups from California.
She enjoys working with young people and communicating research insights to a general audience.
