  • “Over 80% of Reptonians represent our School in at least one sport and our success carries the Repton brand across the world. In addition to our elite sports programme, participation is a fundamental part of the Repton experience. Sport, academics and the co-curricular exist in complementarity, with no sacrificing of quality and we see how valuable this sense of balance is to the state-of-mind of our entire pupil body. Indeed, most develop a lifelong love of sport and all appreciate the universal benefits participation in sport brings. Our imperative to safeguard the wellbeing of our pupils extends to their emotional as well as their physical prosperity, which is why Podium Analytics will play such a valuable role in Repton’s sports programme going forward.”
    Mr Mark Semmence, Headmaster
  • Set in the heart of England Repton has all the valuable tradition that comes with a half millennium of heritage, yet has a modernity of outlook in its staff body, its facilities, and its ambitions for the future. Repton provides balance in all things; small enough to ensure that the talents of each individual are nurtured and valued, yet large enough to compete on the international arena across academia, music, the arts and sport.

At Repton, sport, academics and the co-curricular exist in complementarity, with no sacrificing of quality; the School sees how valuable this sense of balance is to the state-of-mind of its pupil body.

Repton’s illustrious sporting heritage is alive in its current pupil body, with the School’s elite swimming, hockey and tennis programmes preparing pupils for Olympic success. Parents and pupils seek out Repton because of its results but also thanks to the balance it strikes between outstanding pastoral provision and elite sporting expertise. Its staff of world-renowned coaches includes former England wicket keeper Chris Read and Olympic swimmer Scott Talbot as well as strength and conditioning experts who support topflight athletes across its six focus sports (cricket, football, hockey, netball, swimming and tennis) plus athletics, rugby, Muay Thai boxing, gymnastics, ice skating and a myriad of other sports pursued at international level by Reptonians.

Repton’s success in sport carries its brand worldwide, but achieving at sport at the highest levels of performance and participation for all are in no way mutually exclusive. 80% of Reptonians represent the School in one or more sports, but every pupil participates several times each week, with a special winter timetable that maximises every joule of daylight. Above all Reptonians value what sports brings out in every one of them: teamwork, resilience, dedication, leadership and a sense of achievement – both collectively and individually. Indeed, AS Tracking data confirmed that due to the significant role sport plays in the life of Reptonians they have a heightened sense of trust in themselves and in one another compared to the national average.

Repton’s pastoral care programme – WellWorks – complements the best of traditional care with a systematically proactive approach aiming to pre-empt problems and support every pupil. By interweaving scientific and data driven measures the School has developed highly tuned pastoral care provision that works for every child. The Podium Analytics programme will support Repton in prioritising wellbeing in every aspect, with Headmaster Mark Semmence affirming: “Our imperative to safeguard the wellbeing of our pupils extends to their emotional as well as their physical prosperity, which is why Podium Analytics will play such a valuable role in Repton’s sports programme going forward.”

Ellie Mitchell left Repton in 2019 to take up a place as a swimming scholar and Economics undergraduate at Brown University in Rhode Island, and says: “Repton School enabled me to successfully find a balance between a rigorous training schedule for competitive swimming and studying for A Levels and the ACT. The Scholarship process can be complicated to navigate initially but Repton went above and beyond to support me through the application to help me achieve my dream.”

  • “The safety and welfare of our pupils is the cornerstone of Repton’s sports programme. Our world-class coaches, strength and conditioning experts and state-of-the art facilities enable us to hone talent to ensure pupils achieve at every level. Having former Olympian Scott Talbot leading our swimming programme, former England wicket keeper Chris Read as Director of Cricket and Great Britain hockey coach Martin Jones as Director of Hockey means those at the helm of each sport understand what it takes for our pupils to be in peak performance condition. Working with Podium Analytics will further strengthen Repton’s reputation for sporting excellence.”
