MySportSmart for parents and players over 16

A team on hand to support

We know that people take part in different sports, across multiple teams and at different organisations. Between PE, club sport and matches, it can be hard to keep up.

Linked with the SportSmart app, MySportSmart helps parents/carers and players over 18 to manage participation and any injuries that take place during sport. The free app gives you instant access to the latest activity and injury updates from the organisations that you or your child attends, allowing you to make updates and manage a safe return to sport.

To join, you’ll need to be invited by your school or club. Click below to register interest for your organisation.

who we’re working with

We collaborate with schools and clubs across the UK to deliver safer sport.

“It has been a pleasure for our school to be involved with the work of Podium Analytics over the last year. A project that aims to help reduce the incidence of injury in school sport links closely with Canford’s sport and wellbeing vision and we look forward to together helping create a safer future for all pupils.”

How do I get my school/club on SportSmart?

To get your school or club onto SportSmart, simply complete the register interest form and we’ll be in touch to get you set up: Register interest

Once you’re on board, you can invite parents and players over the age of 16 to use MySportSmart, the free partner app.

Who is SportSmart for?

SportSmart is for PE teachers and sports coaches working in schools and grassroots clubs, who care about player wellbeing. It is designed to help you track, share and manage player injuries all in one secure, easy, free-to-use app. You don’t need to be medically trained to use SportSmart – it’s everyone, whether you’re full-time, part-time or a volunteer.

Designed for busy PE and sport environments, you can complete a full report straight away or simply record that one has happened and complete the detail later.

For first aiders and medical staff, we’ve created additional functionality so you can add all the detail you need for reporting and better player care, such as medical diagnoses and treatment plans.

How much does SportSmart cost?

SportSmart is fully funded by Podium Analytics and available at no cost for schools and grassroots clubs.

We’re a not-for-profit organisation on a mission to reduce injuries, increase sporting participation and build a culture of safety and support around every player. Because when we care for our players, they play better, play longer and grow stronger, on and off the field.

How can I make the most of my data?

There are lots of ways SportSmart helps you make the most of the information you collect.

Admins users on the app can access injury data dashboards that provide a clear overview of who’s injured or concussed and key information – such as where and when injuries have happened.

For all users – or anyone interested in collecting sports injury data! – you can find out more about how to make the most of the data you collect in SportSmart, by signing up to our free Data-Informed Decisions email programme. Over five weeks, we’ll share some tip tops, insights and ways to approach using data to enhance your injury management. Click here to register.

Can parents and players see the information being recorded?

MySportSmart is our partner app, designed for parents and players over the age of 16. On here, you can access a player’s injury records and make relevant updates, as well as manage the Concussion Recovery process when needed.

To join MySportSmart, you’ll need to be invited by a school or club that is already set up on SportSmart. You can use the form above if they aren’t yet.

How do I get involved in research projects?

We have an in-house Applied Research team, who work to transform learnings from elite sport and insights from our partners into useful tool, resources and information for our users and beyond.

Once you’re signed up with SportSmart, we’ll make you aware of any interesting opportunities to participate in projects that are underway. You can easily manage your consents for taking part in the app, too.

Why has Podium Analytics created SportSmart?

We’re a not-for-profit organisation on a mission to reduce injuries, increase sporting participation and build a culture of safety and support around every player. Because when we care for our players, they play better, play longer and grow stronger, on and off the field.

The information we gather helps uncover trends and surface injury patterns, guiding smarter prevention and stronger safety across all levels of sport. We share this insight with our SportSmart community, helping us learn collectively so that we all benefit from a growing knowledge bank.

Where is the data stored?

We take data security seriously. All data collected through the SportSmart is stored in our secure data lake.

What do we do with player data?

Looking after your data is a key part of SportSmart. No named data collected through the app will be used without permission. For our broader landscape research, all data has certain information removed meaning that no individual, school or club, coach or teacher or parent/carer is identifiable. This process is called anonymisation.

Any specific research project will always require consent. If a school or club chooses to be involved in a specific research project, they will need to contact the parent/carer of player or, if over 18 the player themselves, directly and ask them if they are happy to participate. Only the data of those who have consented will be used for that specific project.

Each individual project will require its own explicit consent and a participant can remove that consent at any time by contacting dataprotection@podiumanalytics.org.
